National Grid produces a series of future energy scenarios

FESOne of the scenarios, Gone Green, is the only one that would meet all of the UK’s renewable and carbon targets on time. Renewables would need to be 34% of electricity by 2020, with wind energy at 18% of total. We’re doing well with peaks of about 10% for renewables currently but we clearly need to go much further. National Grid doesn’t seem to think there will be a problem with this level of renewables on the transmission system. Also, could more electric cars in the future act as mini storage for households, smoothing out the peaks and troughs using their batteries?\r\n\r\nFuture Energy Scenarios report\r\n\r\n
